Why I love the olympics

I'm about to hit the sack, and I'm batteling a cold, but I thought I'd
say why I love the olympics...

The upsets.

I don't know much about swimmig, but it's the olympics so it doesn't
matter. You watch any sport that's on tv. Two weeks of constant sports.

I was watching swimming tonight and NBC made note (a lot) about how
the French 4x100 relay team talked some trash towards the USA team.
Saying something along the lines of how they're going to "smash" the
Americans.

The guys on TV were saying how the French were favored to win the
4x100. Even during the race they were saying "can the US hold on for
silver"

Then the US edged the French by .08 seconds for the gold. And the US
swimmers go crazy.

That's how wheaties boxes are made.

I love that kind of comeback. The 1980 hockey win over Russia. Keri
schrug with her hurt ankle vault. Paul Hamm in 2004 with his all-
around victory in gymnastics. Sarah something in figure skating a
while ago.

"rudy" moments if you will.

I get all choaked up watching the reactions of those accomplishments.
Usually each olympics has at least one moment like that. So hopefully,
since the game just started, we'll have a few more.

The closest I've come to this feeling is when I won a basket of cheese
and chocolate at a silent auction. My bid of 25 bucks held up.

Tomorrow I'll post about the rest of the Pittsburgh trip, geekfest and
this weekends conference.
